Keeping Seniors, Veterans & Longtime Residents in Their Homes

Warwick was built by generations of hardworking residents who raised families, served our country, started businesses, and invested in our community. They should never be forced to leave the homes because government failed to plan responsibly.

The Challenge

For many Warwick residents, retirement was supposed to provide peace of mind. Instead, seniors, veterans, and longtime residents are facing growing pressure from costs they cannot control.

Property Taxes have increased at the max rate allowed by law over the past two years. A supplemental tax increase is being considered to plug deficits in this year's budget.
  • Rising property taxes
  • Increasing healthcare costs
  • Higher utility bills
  • Inflation and the cost of everyday necessities
  • The long-term borrowing cost to construct two new high schools
  • Years of relying on one-time funds instead of solving structural budget problems

The result is that many longtime residents are asking a question they should never have to ask:

“Can I still afford to stay in the home I spent my life paying for?”

My Four-Part Plan

Keeping Warwick affordable requires targeted tax relief combined with responsible financial management.

1

Modernize Senior Tax Relief

Review Warwick's senior property tax exemptions to ensure they reflect today's housing values and economic realities.

2

Protect Those Who Served

Strengthen tax relief for veterans who served our country and deserve meaningful recognition from the community they helped protect.

3

Help Residents with Disabilities

Review disability exemptions to better protect residents facing long-term physical and financial challenges.

4

Practice Shared Sacrifice

Meaningful tax relief cannot be achieved by simply shifting costs somewhere else. City government must control spending, eliminate waste, improve efficiency, and make difficult decisions so relief can be provided responsibly.

Why This Matters To Me

Throughout my years in public service, I've learned that the hardest decisions are often the most important. Government has a responsibility to solve problems before they become crises—not after families begin paying the price. Seniors, veterans, and longtime residents who spent decades building Warwick deserve the security of knowing they can remain in the community they helped create. That belief has guided my public service for years, and it continues to guide me today.

Let's Keep Warwick Affordable

Warwick should always be a city where people can afford to build a life—and afford to stay for a lifetime.
